Frequently asked regalia questions
What is a Grad Pack?

Grad Packs will be available to order for spring beginning Jan. 20, 2026. There will be options available that only include cap and gown.
How do I purchase my cap and gown (Grad Pack)? How do I know which color to order?
Grad Packs will be available to purchase through the Alumni Association on Jan. 20, 2026.
- There are options available that only include cap and gown.
- CSU’s official stole is “evergreen.”
- Latin Distinction eligibility (which can impact the color robe students wear) emails are sent by the Office of the Registrar.
- Graduates can purchase Grad Packs on-site, if they miss the online ordering deadline.
- The Grad Pack page will also include information on ordering graduation announcements and diploma frames.
What if I miss the ordering window?
Regalia will be available for purchase during Grad Fest and Senior Send Off at the Iris & Michael Smith Alumni Center ahead of University-wide Commencement.
When/where can students pick up regalia?
Regalia will not be shipped to students for Spring commencement. Graduates pick up regalia during Spring distribution (Grad Fest) at the Iris & Michael Smith Alumni Center on campus, as well as Senior Send Off ahead of University-wide Commencement.
Photo ID required for pick up. Students can arrange for someone else (family member, friend, colleague, etc.) to pick up their regalia package on their behalf. There is a check out process during distribution.
Cap, gown, hood and tassel are not rentals; the package is kept by the graduate. No returns.
Can someone else pick up my cap and gown?
Yes. If you need someone else to pick up your regalia for you at Grad Fest, this is possible. The individual picking up will need to bring their photo ID and sign out the cap and gown upon pick up.
Which special recognitions may be part of my regalia?
Special recognitions may include Honors, Latin Distinction, First Generation, International Students, Adult Learner and Veteran Services, current military service, and cultural center affiliation.
Special recognition items by department, organization, or affiliation will be available through Jostens Grad Pack ordering.
How should faculty order regalia for commencement?
Faculty orders and shipping are coordinated at the college level. Colleges or departments work directly with the supplier, Jostens, to place faculty orders. Contact your college commencement coordinator to arrange your order. If you do not know who your coordinator is, please contact your college dean’s office.
If you missed the ordering deadline through your college, Jostens will have keeper regalia available for purchase during Grad Fest. These are only available in CSU’s regalia colors, rather than specific alma maters. Cost: $125 for a doctoral unit and $105 for a masters unit.
Is there a resource for students who cannot afford a Grad Pack to obtain regalia for commencement ceremonies?
Yes! The ASCSU Graduation Gown Lending Library allows undergraduate students to borrow a graduation cap, gown, and tassel at no cost so they can take graduation photos and participate in commencement ceremonies in full regalia alongside their peers.
I purchased my regalia and don’t want to keep it. Is there a good way to recycle or donate my cap and gown?
Yes! The ASCSU Graduation Gown Lending Library provides a free lending service to students who need regalia. This is a great sustainable option to make sure your undergraduate/bachelor’s cap and gown go to use for years to come!
