Colleagues,
For many of us, choosing to work in higher education is connected to helping students succeed, both at the university and when they head to their next chapter. Commencement is the culmination of years of hard work for the students and for the faculty and staff who have worked with them during their time at CSU.
Now, you’re invited to join in the celebration to help graduates and their supporters as they are on campus for commencement.
Ceremonies will take place Friday and Saturday, May 15-16, and we need your help to make the experience seamless for our graduates and their guests.
Please join us! Here’s what you’d be signing up for:
- Guest relations will assist with questions, wayfinding, accessibility, and resources before guests enter ceremony venues.
- Ceremony support helps event staff prepare venues before and between ceremonies and will float to support various needs to keep things running smoothly.
- This is a great group activity – invite your coworkers, friends, and partners to join!
- Campus wayfinding will be stationed around campus to help welcome and direct approximately 45,000 visitors as they navigate celebrations.
- If you have extensive knowledge of campus and feel comfortable giving directions – this is the job for you!
Other engagement opportunities are available, and individuals are welcome to sign up for multiple time slots and roles. If you’re willing to help with any role, please sign up for the “Open staffing pool” on the day(s) you’re available. There are also set-up and tear-down roles before and after ceremonies for those who prefer to be behind the scenes. However, the highest need is forward-facing support on Friday and Saturday.
Please note: There will be a central commencement lead as your point of contact that will provide support and direction for volunteers in their area, and you will be able to refer folks to that contact as needed. In other words, you won’t be in this alone!
You can email commencement with any specific questions you have, and please feel free to share these opportunities with your trusted communities.
Thank you for all you do for CSU!
