Faculty, Staff: Commencement Information

CSU’s University-wide Commencement is set for May 16, and recognition ceremonies grouped by academic unit will be hosted May 15-18. CSU is excited to match the best practice of large universities in hosting an event that brings together the entire graduating class and their guests to celebrate this pinnacle academic achievement.

Hosting an event of this scale will require the participation of our entire campus community, so below are a few things that will allow you to plan ahead and to support our students in their accomplishment.

  • Work remotely May 15-16, 2025, to reduce campus congestion
    • CSU faculty and staff should work remotely on Thursday, May 15, and Friday, May 16, unless their role requires them to be on campus. This has been approved by university leadership; supervisors are asked to allow remote work.
  • Participation expectations and involvement options
    • Faculty and staff are welcome to participate in both the University-wide Commencement and recognition ceremonies but are not necessarily required to do so.
    • There are various roles available for recognition ceremonies and the University-wide Commencement, including marshals and banner bearers.
    • Your dean or college may ask that you attend or take on specific roles at the recognition ceremonies. Watch for communication from your college regarding involvement.
      • If you are asked to participate and need to order regalia, please submit any regalia orders through your college’s commencement coordinator. If you are unsure of who to contact, please reach out to your dean’s office for assistance.
  • What to know about University-wide Commencement tickets
    • Any faculty and staff who would like to simply attend University-wide Commencement (and do not have a formal role or are not helping at the event) must fill out this form by Friday, March 21, to make a request for a ticket(s).
      • Each faculty/staff member may receive one ticket (first-come, first-served) and request additional tickets, which will be accommodated pending availability.
  • All parking will be ticketed on Friday, May 16, 2025
    • Campus will participate in Repark (like on a game day) starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
    • All parking on campus on Friday, May 16, will require a commencement parking pass (regardless of whether an individual is coming to campus for work or to attend celebrations).
      • Please note that regular campus parking passes will be invalid on Friday, May 16, and cars without a commencement parking pass may be towed.
    • If you must be on campus on Friday, May 16, please request a parking pass through the faculty/staff request form.
      • A parking space is for all-day use, and individuals will need to utilize the same spot for any additional ceremonies or activities.
    • You are encouraged to help provide space and a positive experience for visitors unfamiliar with campus. Please bike, use Transfort or carpool if you are able.

Thank you for all you do as the heartbeat of our campus. You play a huge role in getting our students to this exciting moment, and we look forward to celebrating their successes with you, their guests, and our entire campus community.
