The following is general information for Fall 2009 commencement. All graduates should review the information provided by the colleges (linked from the commencement schedule) prior to participating in commencement ceremonies .
Where do I get my cap and gown?
Caps and gowns can be picked up in the Lory Student Center, Room 228, December 16 - 17, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. As a last resort, regalia may be rented one hour prior to your ceremony at the Moby Arena Intramural Gym or the Lory Student Center, Room 228.
Please note that cash is required for rentals. Graduates, except for doctoral candidates, keep their caps and tassels. Rental costs are as follows:- Bachelor's gown, cap and tassel - $19.50
- Master's or doctorate gown, hood, cap and tassel - $39.00
- Additional tassels $7.00
Wearing the mortarboard cap
Tassels are worn on the left side. Mortarboard caps should be worn level and not on the back of your head. Regalia should not be decorated.
Gown return
Immediately following the ceremony, robes should be returned to the Moby Arena Intramural Gym or to Lory Student Center Room 228, depending o the site of your ceremony. You may keep your cap and tassel.
Late charges will be incurred for late returns.

Diplomas
Graduates will receive a diploma cover during the ceremony - actual diplomas are mailed approximately six weeks after commencement. If you cannot attend the ceremony, you may pick up a diploma cover from the Provost's Office or have one mailed to you for a postage fee. Undergraduate diploma cover is $3.00; Graduate diploma cover is $4.95. Call (970) 491-6614 for more information
Announcements
For customized orders (with student's name imprinted), a company representative from CB Graduation Announcements will be present on October 13, 14, and 15 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Flea Market area (outside the University Bookstore) to take customized orders. After October 15, orders can be placed at www.cbgrad.com or by calling 800-433-0296. Customized orders are returned within seven days of being ordered.
Generic announcements (non-personalized announcements) can be purchased at the University Bookstore anytime.
Do my guests need tickets?
Tickets are not required for admission. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis - check your college information for futher details (linked from the commencement schedule). Areas will be set up to accommodate anyone with a special need.
Can we have noise makers or confetti?
Please do not bring alcohol, inappropriate substances or objects. You will be expected to arrive early to check in and line-up. Please review your college's graduation information (linked from the commencement schedule) for specific times as well as additional information you may need to know.
Where do we park?
Lory Student Center
The Lory Student Center is located centrally on the main campus, and there will be free public parking in the pay-by-space numbered stalls in the parking lot north of the Lory Student Center on Friday and Saturday. There should be sufficient time between ceremonies to minimize parking congestion.
Moby Arena
Since Friday, December 18, is the last day of final exams and a typical workday, regular A-permit parking zones (Faculty and Staff zones) will be enforced until 4:00 p.m. on the main campus and in the Moby Arena Lot. Visitors can park in the Z (commuter) zoned portion of the lot west of Moby Arena, as well as any other Z (commuter) lots on campus. No parking is permitted in the 20 minute Loading Zones (except for loading and unloading), red/fire zones, and No Parking/Undesignated Areas (All vehicles must park in a clearly marked stall).
